The Ultimate Everyday Smoothie for Glowing Skin, Strong Hair, and Optimized Digestion

OK, I don’t use the term “favourite” lightly here. Usually, my go-to smoothie changes frequently but this one has been on rotation for the last six months i.e. you know it HAS to be good. It is literally THE BEST boost of energy, helps my skin glow (esp. under eye area), is great for digestion, and is part of the reason I have such strong hair. The star ingredients are spirulina, ginger, and the dates – the combo really has a kick.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 handful spinach/kale/lettuce/mint/cilantro (or a mix of)
1/3 cucumber
1/2-1 ripe banana (adjust based on preference)
1/3 cup any other fruit: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, mango (can all be frozen)
Peeled and chopped ginger (I use a palm’s worth; start with a 2” knob)
1/8 peeled lemon
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Healthy fat: coconut oil, tahini, coconut milk, avocado (those are my favourites, respectively; I use 2 tsp coconut oil, 1.5 tsp tahini, 1/3 cup coconut milk, 1/4 avocado)
Spirulina* (I use 1 heaping tbsp; start with 1/3 tsp)
Filtered water to blend
Optional but highly recommended: 1-2 dates to eat alongside
I recommend drinking this for breakfast instead of later in the day to reap the full benefits. Although spirulina does have some protein, you can certainly add more if you’d like (e.g. powder, hemp seeds, plain Greek yogurt). Always remember to CHEW YOUR SMOOTHIES for optimal digestion (eating the dates alongside helps with this).
